Janai-Ami began painting in response to 9/11. A physician and surgeon, she left a lucrative career to paint full-time in 2003, just eighteen months after she first began to paint. She has no training as an artist. She is known in California for her beautiful use of COLOR and her CONTEMPORARY FLOWER paintings in which she uses paint as a \"sculpting medium.\"

She has devoted herself to this cause for four years. She also works to save animals through various rescue groups in California. There was only one painting following Simba\'s horrific death in November 2004 for well over one year. The case has taken its toll on the artist, who herself is a Cancer survivor.
